Ingredients

  • Round Steak (1/4" Cubes)1 Pound
  • Potatoes (Uncooked, Diced)3 Cups
  • Onion (Large, Chopped)1
  • Salt1 1/2 Teaspoons
  • Pepper1/4 Teaspoon
  • Turnip (Medium, Diced)1
  • Flour3 Cups
  • Salt1 Teaspoon
  • Lard3/4 Cup
  • Cold Water10 to 12 Tablespoons

Instructions

Combine the first six ingredients. Set aside.

Combine the remaining ingredients as you would a pie crust. Wrap the dough in foil and chill one hour.

Divide the dough in six equal parts. Roll each part into an eight inch circle. Fill each circle with one cup of the filling. Fold dough over and crimp the edges so that the pastie is sealed.

Bake at 400 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes.
