Apple Dumplings - Danish Style

Ingredients
- Flour2 Cups
- Baking Powder2 Teaspoons
- Salt1 Teaspoon
- Butter3 Tablespoons
- Sugar1/2 Cup
- Water1 Cup
- Vanilla1 Teaspoon
- Flour1 Tablespoon
- Butter1 Teaspoon
- Apples1 Quart
- Sugar1/2 Cup
- Cinnamon1 Teaspoon
- Butter2 Tablespoons
Instructions
Mix the first 4 ingredients as you would for a pie; add about 1/2 cup milk to make dough soft. Roll out on floured pastry cloth to about 12" x 18". Slice 1 qt. apples and place in center of dough. Sprinkle apples with 1/2 cup sugar mixed with 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Dot with 2 tablespoons butter. Fold dough over apples and seal as best you can. Place in a 9" x 13" pan and pour on white sauce.
White Sauce
Combine the 1/2 cup sugar, 1 cup water, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 tablespoon flour, and 1 teaspoon butter. Cook and pour over pastry.
Bake 3/4 of an hour at 375 degrees. (It usually takes longer)
Note: I make 1 1/2 recipes of the pastry and double the white sauce.
