Frozen Kranz

Breads, Muffins, Coffee Cakes, etc.

Ingredients

  • Flour3 Cups
  • Salt (Scant)1 Teaspoon
  • Sugar3 Tablespoons
  • Butter1 Cup
  • Egg Yolks (Slightly Beaten)3
  • Warm Milk3/4 Cup
  • Yeast1 Pkg.
  • Hot Water1/4 Cup
  • Sugar1 Teaspoon

Instructions

Mix first 4 ingredients like a pie crust.

Mix remaining ingredients together and add to the above dough mixture.

Put dough in the refrigerator until needed or freeze 1 hour. Divide dough into 3 parts. Roll into 1/4 inch thick rectangle. Sprinkle with desired filling. Fold over in thirds, tucking ends in after first fold. Let rise, seam side down, on baking sheet until light. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.

Filling: Dot with butter and sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, chopped pecans, raisins or currants.

OR

Beat the three egg whites adding 1/2 cup sugar. Smooth this on dough before adding nuts and raisins and folding in thirds

Frost with almond flavored white butter frosting.
